The Council
The Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) is an apex research organisation under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. It undertakes, coordinates, develops, disseminates and promotes scientific research in homoeopathy.
The Headquarters are in New Delhi. Multi-centric research is carried out through a network of 33 institutes and units across India. The Council collaborates with national and international institutes of excellence, monitors extra mural research, and shares findings through monographs, journals, newsletters, IEC material, seminars and workshops.
How the Council was formed
In 1969 the Government of India set up the Central Council for Research in Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy (CCRIMH). It was later dissolved to create four separate research councils, one each for homoeopathy (CCRH), Ayurveda and Siddha (CCRAS), Unani (CCRUM), and Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN). CCRH was formally constituted on 30 March 1978 and is registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI, 1860. It is fully funded by the Ministry of Ayush.
Objectives
Selected objectives from the Council's Memorandum of Association:
- Formulate aims and patterns of research on scientific lines in homoeopathy.
- Undertake research and related programmes, including undergraduate, postgraduate and post-doctoral programmes.
- Carry out and assist research into the causes, spread, treatment and prevention of diseases.
- Initiate, aid, develop and coordinate fundamental and applied research in homoeopathy.
- Provide technical and financial support for research.
- Exchange information with institutions that share the Council's aims.
- Establish and maintain laboratories, libraries and institutions.
- Publish papers, periodicals, standard treatment protocols and books.
Governance
The Governing Body sets the Council's policies and direction. It is presided over by the Union Minister of Ayush, who has general control over the Council's affairs. The Governing Body is supported by:

- Standing Finance Committee
- Scientific Advisory Board
- Ethics Committee
- Special committees for clinical research, fundamental research, drug standardisation, drug proving and literary research
